Since it was created in 2017, Southend Care has delivered outstanding care and support services to many of the most vulnerable citizens in Southend-on-Sea.
From residential care and supported living to complex reablement and day services, the company – which is wholly owned by Southend Borough Council – has a vision to be the first organisation local people turn to for care and support services.
Because Southend Care now delivers a whole host of services that were once provided by the council, it’s important to make people aware of this. It’s also essential for them to communicate the impact their work has, giving stakeholders confidence that all services are delivered by expert hands and forward-looking minds.
To help achieve this, Southend Care wanted to create and publish a dedicated impact report. Being a young company, it hadn’t produced one before – so the team turned to Garda for help.
Turning a complex brief into reality
“We had a challenging brief,” explains Managing Director Jon Manzoni, “and it was essential that we got the look and feel of the report exactly right. So we worked with Tony from Garda on the concept. He was very professional in coming up with the methodology and guiding us down the right path.”
Working with Garda gave Jon and his team a valuable new perspective on the project. “Tony was really well prepared and contributed lots of new ideas,” Jon adds. “For example, Garda created an excellent infographic as part of the impact report. They were really good at interpreting what needed to go into it and suggested turning it into a separate A3 place-mat, which has had a lot of impact.”
Indeed, the whole report has had a highly positive effect. “We’ve issued the report to stakeholders including senior councillors and it was very well received. Both the branding and the messaging were just right and it has made a huge amount of difference. The advice and guidance we got from Garda was so helpful and the whole project was painless and delivered to deadline.”
Helping with future successes
Southend Care is now working with Garda to create a new website that better reflects the organisation, is more helpful for service users and jobseekers and – crucially – is much simpler to update. We’ll update you on this project soon when it is completed, but we’re glad to have been of service in creating top-quality print and digital projects for such an vital local organisation.
